CEREMONY SET for NEW SAN JOAQUIN JUDGE

Dignitaries, friends and family are invited to the swearing-in ceremony for Cinda Sanchez Fox, who has been appointed to the California Superior Court bench by Governor Gray Davis.
The public is also cordially invited to attend.
Speakers will include San Joaquin County District Attorney John Phillips, Assistant Public Defender Jim Larson, El Conilio Executive Director Jose Rodriguez, and Joel Perisho of Harris and Perisho. San Joaquin Presiding Judge George Abdallah will administer the oath of office.
Judge Fox was appointed Commissioner of the San Joaquin Court in January, 1997. She has had a broad range of judicial responsibilities, including arraignments, pleas, sentencings, pretrial conferences, and criminal trials. She has also presided over Drug Court, Domestic Violence Court, small claims, traffic, and family law.
Prior to joining the bench, Judge Fox was in private practice, and spent seven years as a public defender for San Joaquin County. She was granted a juris doctorate and a B.A. in political science from UC Davis.
Judge Fox is also active in the community. She has served as a board member on El Concilio since 1999, and she is the founder of the Latina Mentoring Program. She earned the Peacemaker of the Year Award from the San Joaquin County Mediation Center, and a commendation from the San Joaquin County Public Health Department for her work on child safety programs. Judge Fox has also served on the Board of Governors for San Joaquin County Bar Association.
Judge Fox fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Thomas B. Teaford.
